Show Trespassers Dear Editor, "East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, " so said the inspired poet, Rudyard Kipling. How true this is. I have lived here for thirty years, and I'm still amazed at the difference in the two places. Let me say first that neither place is perfect. There is no "Garden of Eden," yet, we don't expect that. , But I am appalled at the common lack of courtesy and manners in so many people. I am apt to look out at any time and see someone, most of the time he is a total stranger, to me anyway, walking over my place, or going in the garage and getting what he came to get, and never coming to the front door to tell me who he is, or what he wants, or what he has got. He comes unannounced, unan-nounced, then goes unannounced. I live here, you know. I pay the taxes and water on the place. 1 think I own it, but sometimes I wonder. 1 u.. u,j 1 lldvc IlclU UHTIll nunc lllrtll UI1V-C, come right in the house without knocking on the door, or ringing the doorbell, and go get w hat they came to get, with me in the house, sometimes standing at my cook stove feeling like I have egg all over my face, while they help themselves. Finally, they will tell me who they are if its in the house. Outside, they don't even show me the courtesy of that. I'm left to wonder if they have been sent by my husband, or if they are prowlers. So beginning right today, if you are on my place, and haven't got the common decency and courtesy to come to my door and tell me what you have come to get, and who you are, and who sent you, you may walk in unannounced, unan-nounced, but a deputy sheriff will escort you out. If you have already borrowed something, and want to bring it back, but haven't got the manners to come to my front door and tell me, before you put it away, just keep it. I don't need it that bad. Where I come from they don't do this. They may be non-Mormons, and they may spit on you when you go to church. But who cares alxmt that. If the whole world says something is wrong, and within my soul I know it is right, I don't care what they think. But 1 do mind if they come in unannounced unan-nounced and craw! all over me like they do here. Signed, Anna Kidd |
