Show Police blotter Several trafic accidents were reported over last week including a property pro-perty damage accident 9-27 involving a 2'2 ton stake side truck driven by George D. Christensen, Vernal and a Dodge Dart driven by Chester John , Gardner at 100 South Vernal Ave. Gardner Gard-ner was cited for failure to stop at the stop sign at 100 So. and Vernal Ave. Damage was 600 to the Gardner vehicle and $150 to the Christensen truck. Damage of $700 incurred when a vehicle vehi-cle driven by a juvenile female struck a car driven by Barbara J. Watkins 38, Vernal. Damage of $400 was sustained by the Watkins vehicle and $300 to the other vehicle. A 14 year old juvenile was injured slightly when struck by a vehicle driven by Curtis Lee McKinnon, 18, Lapojnt. The girl was taken to the Vernal Family Health Center and treated for a sprained sprain-ed lower left leg. The accident was on private property. No citations were issued. The accident was not reported until 3 hours after it occurred. Cynthia Billings, 20, was charged with reckless driving after she fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle approximately ap-proximately 1:15 a.m. on 9-30-79. She' was westbound on 500 South when she apparently fell asleep, went off the road struck a power pole shearing it off at the ground, came back onto the road. Damage to the pole was $200 and $2000 to the vehicle. Billings was uninjured. A total of $700 damage was sustained by two vehicles. Dennis James Holmes was cited for following too close and Sondra Shipton was cited for expired driver's license after Holmes struck the Shipton vehicle in the rear after Shipton put on the brakes to avoid hitting an animal in the road. Minor damage was done to a motorcycle motor-cycle driven by Douglas M. Mecham which was northbound on 200 West and stopped at a stop sign on 100 North. The rear signal light was struck by a vehicle driven by Ratheda Petty. Petty was cited for following too close. No injuries were reported. According to Sgt. Robert Downard the name Joe Allen Welch was erroneously er-roneously included in the September stats as being arrested for lewdness, 9-13-79. The arrest occurred in August not September. Stereo speakers and several eight-track eight-track tapes were stolen from an unlocked unlock-ed vehicle at 40 E. Main between the hours of 9-11 p.m. 9-30-79. Case under investigation. in-vestigation. A CB radio was stolen from an unsecured vehicle 9-26 at Sunset Auto. Value was $150. During a routine check for curfew at 2:10 a.m. officers Manuel Cantu and Dan Soelberg arrested Johnny F. Kar-ren, Kar-ren, 20 of Vernal and James D. Adams, 19, Vernal for possession of a controlled substance, Marijauna, which is a class B misdemeanor. Both were taken to the Uintah County Jail and booked. Bail was set at $150. One juvenile was arrested ar-rested for possession of Marijauna 9-28-79 at 750 W. 100 S. He was referred to juvenile court and released to his parents. 9-27-79 a vehicle owned by Michael D. Miles, Vernal was burglarized while parked at Pollard transportation, 346 E. Main. Taken were two polaroid cameras and a jacket valued at $221. Investigations In-vestigations revealed that the rear window win-dow had been forced to gain entry. Telephone harassment is under investigation in-vestigation by the department; a criminal mischief report was investigated in-vestigated at the Arnold Bartel's residence. Approximately $85 damage was done to the walls of a trailer home. Other cases were theft of bike from Richard Capps, value $160; theft at Charles P. Lewis home, $40; disorderly conduct, seven arrested at Jimbo's 9-29; juvenile possession of tobacco; 2 juveniles possession marijauna; civil distrubance; illegal consumption. |
