Show i Grazing meeting to I discuss new regulations A meeting will be held in inVernal InVernal InVernal Vernal on Tuesday July 26 to discuss and explain the new regulations governing livestock grazing on the public lands and andon andon andon on the National Forests it was jointly announced by Lloyd H H. Ferguson District Manager Bureau of Land Management and Robert obert A A. A Rowen Forest Supervisor Ashley National Forest The meeting is scheduled to commence at 1 30 pm p.m. In the Uintah County Courthouse ELM grazing regulations have been closely coordinated with those of the Forest Service and the regulations of the two agencies are consistent to the extent possible The new rules which are designed to meet the requirements of the Federal I Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 govern the grazing permit system grazing advisor advisory ad visor boards the handling of 01 trespass and other violations s the range betterment fund and compensation for interest in authorized permanent permanent per pert manent improvements I Copies of the proposed regulations appeared in to the Federal Register issues of June 30 and July 8 8 Interior Secretary Cecil D. D Andrus said that the proposed regulations would if it adopted be the first significant change in livestock grazing regulations made in nearly 40 years The TIle regulations now in force were were adopted shortly after the Taylor Grazing Act was passed in 1934 and few major changes have been made since that time REVISED regulations were first published as proposed rules in July 1976 The passage of the Federal Land policy and Management Act in October 1976 required further revision These newly revised regulations would enable the Bureau of Land Management to consider other resource uses and environmental values in allocating grazing use of the public lands and in th the development conservation and maintenance of range improvements im improvements needed for grazing management The newly proposed regulations are better organized and easier to read They treat gracing ing on public lands both within and outside established grazing districts in about identical fashion The allocation of grazing would be beIn bein bein in accordance with land use planning providing for multiple use management land and recognizing the need to protect environmental and other resource values Livestock operators would be authorized to graze public lands for periods of 10 years e except in those situations where anticipated anticipated an an- future uses of the land would preclude grazing or where a shorter term is required require for management processes Interested parties are invited to attend the meeting and to submit to the Director Bureau Dureau of Land Management Washington DC D.C. through September 6 1977 or to the Chief Forest Service 2200 PO P.O.
