Show MACHINES FOR ALFALFA AND BROME GRASS from the farmer A tan machine chino has haa recently cowe to my notice which I 1 am sure will soon bo used considerably bythe by the farmers of the alio west especially those in growing dry hirm farm alfalfa either for hay or seed this thia machine Is ia called the emerson alfalfa renovator in othor other word wordy it is in a toothed disc tho the spikes are in the shape of harrow teeth with the exception that they are slightly curved to rive give the wheel which twenty of I 1 them hem form it a slight disc the machine has twelve of these wheels making spikes pikes ea each ii individual spike is ia bolted on so eo that if lf one is broken another can be readily put on it works in the same manner as does tho the regular diso disc and so can be made to cut either deep or shallow two good horses will pull the ma chioe chino readily roa dily the advantage which this thia machine has over the ordinary disc is that it pulverizes the ground much bet better ter thus forming a bettor better mulch for tho conservation of moisture it tears up all shallow rooted plants better than does doea the disc thus destroying june or cheat grass more effectively it does not c cut ut off ohp roots of alfalfa as does the di disc ise but splits the crowns and muses causes the alfalfa to spread and thus thicken the stand the only disadvantage which it has is that it pulls a little than the ordinary disc but when we consider that going over the held field once with the alfalfa renovator dogs does as na thorough work as going over the field three times with the ordinary disc a great deal of time almo and labor is ia saved by using thi this s machine not only this but more is ia conserved no alfalfa roots cutoff cut off or destroyed and fill all june grass and other shallow rooted weeds ore are killed which is quite a consideration J 0 0 W woodhouse is ia agent for the above renovator |
