Show sandbagger sandbagged SAND BAGGED BY A WOMAN cibic CHICAGO loo nov 2 an attempt was made to robe rob sirs mrs M U E pa page e widow of AL E page the confectioner at lier her home garfield avenue A woman called upon mrs page C and asked for a report of a society affair in which af mrs rs page was interested the woman was about 27 years old well dressed and of pleasing manner she said she was a reporter for a morning paper mrs pa ange e invited the young woman into her reception room in ill the second story of the building and engaged n her in conversation after some time the conversation turned upon music and the young woman requested mrs page to play for her mrs page consented and seated herself at the piano she had scarcely placed her hands on the key when she received three heavy blows from behind upon tho the lead head the blows however fell upon her hair curled on the top of her head and she was only slightly 0 stunned and ill cried out lustily for help the woman lied fled down the stairway to the street mrs page followed her and found that she had been stopped upon the sidewalk by two young tien men who seemed to be having a hard time holdin holding her in ill custody before mrs page could say anything 0 one of the young men advised vilf d her to return to the house to see sec if any of her jewelry had bad been stolen mrs page lid did so and after finding that nothing was missing returned to the street the two young men ell and the woman had disappeared and mrs page has not seen them since police officers have been detailed on the case but have nudo no arrests arrest 3 but it is thought uy them that the men were accomplices of the woman arid and it was their aini aim to r get possession of mrs pages diamonds and jewelry valued at several thousands of dollars |
