TWO cars and the caboose of a freight train on the Utah & Northern railway jumped the track near Hyde Park yesterday morning. The accident was caused by a broken rail. The conductor and brakeman were slightly shaken up, and the damage to freight was small. THE Tennessee Jubilee Singers performed in the Logan Hall to a large audience on Wednesday evening. The songs given were of a pleasing character and were well rendered. The entertainment was considerably curtailed to enable the party to take the train going northward at 10 o'clock. WE learn that the committee sent here to make arrangements for the Fireman's excursion from Salt Lake on the 23d inst., failed in consequence of the inability of the U. & N. railway to supply cars to accommodate the number of people who expected to visit us. We regret that the prospect of fraternizing with our friends should have to be postponed for awhile. |
