Show HYRUM NOTES. There have been 234 persons registered during the past week, had our men been home from the railroad our list would have been much larger. On the old lists were the names of many persons that had died and others who had removed. So, on the whole our voting population will be increased. The registrar, Jos. A. Smith, Esq., has won, by his gentlemanly deportment the good-will and respect of the people of Hyrum. He has discharged his duty honestly and fairly to all parties. A Philharmonic Association has been organized here, with T. A. Thoreson, president, Albert Savage, vice-president and musical director, and P. O. Hansen, secretary and treasurer. The objects of this Association are to provide musical and proper amusements for the people. They have sent for a full set of brass instruments, costing $255. The bye-laws of the Association demand that every member shall be of a good moral character. Each member paid an entrance fee of $5.00. This company, if they carry out their programme, will certainly be a good thing for the town, as music always has charms. C. C. S. |
