Show ACCIDENT IN LOGAN CANYON. Editor Leader-Thinking a ?[fowitcuis] form this snowy region may be of some interest to the reader of the leader, I hereby submit a few. On Saturday the 16th last, about ? o'clock p.m. a young man from Bloomington, Bear Lake Co. [county], Idaho, by the name of David Krogue, while engaged in the making for Morris & Co.[company], met with a sad accident. While ?[scoring, searing] a ?e he cut two of his toes off back of the first joint, the big toe and the one next to it on the left foot. Immediately after the accident , his fellow laborers bandaged his toes in tobacco and then started to pack him, dispatching one man to camp for more help. Finding Morris and some others they soon arrived where the wounded man was, made a fine ?[bmi]drug, placed it upon snow shoes, and quickly took him to camp. Two men were then sent to Logan for medical aid. Dr. D.B. Lamoraux arrived next evening (Sunday) at 7 p.m. nearly exhausted having walked a distance of nine miles, four of that on snow shoes. After resting a little he prepared for the operation which was performed with great skill and satisfaction to all present. The patient was put under the influence of chloroform at ?[?0] minutes to nine, and the toes were amputated, six stitches being used, and everything completed, without the loss of any blood, at ten minutes past nine. The patient is now comfortable, and is doing well under the circumstances. He will remain here until Wednesday the 20th, when he will be removed to Logan, where he can be properly taken care of. We remember Bishop H.M. Lewis with kindness for his promptness in sending his boy ?[Alone, Along] and ?[learn]. Yours respectfully, Joseph M. Rims. Maughan's Mill, April 18, 1881. |
