Show PETITION FOR DAILY MAIL. We have this week mailed to the Bishops of Providence, Millville, Hyrum, and Wellsville, respectively, a copy of a petition for a daily mail from Logan to those towns, and we would be pleased to have the same signed by all the citizens of those towns whose signatures can be obtained. We presume that in each of the towns named, a copy of the petition will be taken to meeting, and an opportunity given at those close of the services for all citizens who wish, to sign it. It will answer the purpose if none but male citizens attach their signatures to it. Below is the petition, one which every citizen of the towns named can endorse and which we hope they will sign: Logan, Cache County, U.T. [Utah Territory], April 11th, 1881. To the Second Assistant Postmaster General, Washington, D.C.: SIR: Your petitioners, citizens of Logan, Cache County, Utah, respectfully represent that it would be of very great advantage to our city, and to the other towns hereinafter mentioned, to have a daily mail route established as follows: Leaving Logan at say seven o'clock a.m., and going thence to Providence, a distance of two (2) miles; thence to Millvilee a distance of two (2) miles; thence to Hyrum a distance of four (4) miles; thence to Wellsville a distance of four (4) miles, arriving at Wellsville say at eleven o'clock a.m. Leaving Wellsville say at two o'clock p.m. on the return trip to Logan, and arriving there say at six o'clock p.m. Your petitioners would further represent that the entire length of this route would be but about twelve (12) miles; that in that distance it includes give thrifty and flourishing towns, all of which are rapidly increasing in population, business and wealth, and that a daily mail is a great necessity to the present demands of business in them, all of which your petitioners respectfully submit, and as in duty bound they will ever pray. Copies of the petition may be found at the enabler's desk, Z.C.M.I. and at the LEADER office, and we earnestly invite every male citizen of Logan, who takes any interest in the progress of this city or county, to take the moment's trouble required to sign it; as you pass Z.C.M.I. or the LEADER office, don't forget to drop in and sign the petition. |
