Show PROFESSOR HAMILL. Professor Hamill the great elocutionist, in company with his daughter Miss Alice Hamill, his son Mr. H. Hamill, and Miss Ada Dwyer, gave the first of his entertainments in Logan Hall on Monday evening Feb. (February) 28th. His abilities as an elocutionist are simply great. His ability to make an audience enter into the true sentiment of the piece he may be rendering is surprising, and his powers of personation are truly wonderful. Miss Alice Hamill is also a person of great elocutionary abilities. In her humorous selections, she did not fail to greatly amuse the audience. Mr. H. Hamill is also one of the very few who have a correct conception of the art of elocution, and in his merry way presented his various selections, which were heartily applauded. Miss Ada Dwyer, who has pursued a course of instructions under the Professor, also favored the audience with some excellent selections. With close application to study, and careful observation, she will become an able elocutionist. The Professor has organized a class in elocution here in Logan, where he will give instructions in that branch of science. All who can, should avail themselves of this great opportunity, and attend. He purposes conducting classes in the same study in adjoining settlements, where, we understand they are being organized. |
