Show Horatio Seymour, ex-Governor, &c., is not an aspirerer for the presidency. When asked the other day whether he could be induced under any circumstances to become the Democratic candidate for the presidency, he said, I need rest. I have been over worked, and my physician prescribes for me quiet and inactivity. This is my part for the short remainder of my life, and I have no regret in playing it. Besides, I have an idea that the sentiments and wishes of both the political parties turn to younger and more vigorous men, and all I ask now is to be left in peace. |
