Show EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE. The Educational Institute of Cache County met per adjournment. Prayer by Bro.[Brother] Leathin?, roll called: Minutes of previous meeting read and with a slight amendment adopted. Mr. F. J. Cannon was appointed ?[critic]. The change of officers was next in order. A vote of thanks was tendered Miss Blair, the retiring secretary, for her long and faithful services. It was moved that Mr. Smith president and Mr. F.J. Cannon, vice president, give short speeches which they did. For the benefit of some of the trustees present who were unable to remain during the entire session, the regular programme was laid aside until after miscellaneous business was discussed. It was moved and carried that the ?[Normal] Institute meet the first Monday in August. It was also decided to publish a circular stating the object of the ?[Normal] institute. Messrs. [Messieurs] W.H. ?[Appelby], J.E. Carlisle and F.J. Cannon were appointed as committee to prepare this circular. The regular programme was then taken up. Lesson in language by Mrs. Langton; lesson in primary arithmetic, Miss Blair-each were given in a pleas- [pleasant] manner. Reading, "Prisoner of Chillon," by Miss ?[G?], was rendered very creditably. Critic's report was full and interesting. It was moved and carried that the time of the Normal session be limited to two weeks. It was also moved and carried that Miss Langton be sustained as organist and Mr. Jas. [James] Smith choir leader for the Normal. The following were added to the list of lecturers for the first week's session: Mr. F.J. Cannon, on English Literature; Mr. J. P. Carlisle, Astronomy; Mr. W. Reece, Discovery of America by the Nephites. Programmes for July was ?? and adopted. Benediction by Mr. Shat?. Esther Leishman, Secretary. Logan June 12. |
