Show A DEAF MUTE "SPEAKS." Editor Leader-It is quite laughable to observe the large amount of intellect displayed by some of the Main Street men. A deaf mute is obliged to go into ?[five] stores before he can find a man with sense enough to tell where a hotel can be found. One in particular made me smile he looked at me, then at the book which I presented, then back to me again, his eyes meanwhile taking me in with a vacant stare. At last he called an Indian to his assistance; and they put white and red together and came to the conclusion that I was a beggar. The Indian offered me a dime, but the enlightened business man had not a ?[red] to give. I am a "Deaf Mute" but I thank God I have a better education than the average Main Street business man. I here take pleasure in thanking the citizens of Logan for the patronage I have received, and I hope to meet you all where we all and speak. Willie ?Freevodbrow?. |
