Show THE LUNATICE ASYLUM. The Territorial Lunatic Asylum commissioners met last Tuesday, and after spending the day adjourned to Wednesday. The board, in the first place, decided to settle on one of the sites in each county and then the vote which gave to the lucky county the asylum would also settle the question as to which of the sites offered in the county should be accepted. Acting up on this plan in Salt Lake county, Dr. S.B. Young's asylum was selected, in Utah County, Father Graves' Gardens; in Davis county, the mouth of Shepherd's Canyon, and in Weber, Peery and Henricks' 2 acres. After balloting the decision was in favor of Davis county provided that the supply of water and title to the land prove satisfactory. A committee has been appointed to investigate the matter. It consists of Messrs. W.W. Burton, Dusenberry and Winder. The commission adjourned to next Wednesday. |
