Show AT THE meeting of the Salt Lake county republican convention, held on Thursday of last week, a very pleasant time was enjoyed. The majority of those present declaimed loudly against the arbitrary action of the central committee in appointing delegates and in re-electing themselves without the consent of "the people." The party is too badly divided, to make the action of one faction of any particular importance. Among a number of resolutions adopted by the convention there is the following, which is after the old style: RESOLVED. That the non-action of our Territorial Legislative Assembly with regard to the enforcement of the law of Congress relating to the crime of polygamy requires on the part of Congress such additional legislation as will speedily and effectually punish willful offenders and cripple the polygamous directory who intolerant rule in this territory is a standing menace to republican principles and institutions. |
