Show Killed by a Falling Tree. On the 18th Inst. While two sons of Brother Christian Byer of Richmond were in the canyon at work, one of them, Christian Jr., met with instant death. Deceased, it seems, had felled a tree which lodged against another, and he was trying to get it down. While endeavoring to do so, his brother, standing near by saw it move and called to him to get out of the way. Deceased looked up to see what the danger was, when the tree fell upon him crushing the frontal bones of the skull, killing him instantly. The body was conveyed home and an inquest was held before John Hale, J. P. Dr. W. H. Olsten was called to make a post mortem examination, and testify at the inquest. He testified that death resulted from extravagation of the brain, caused by a fracture of the frontal and temporal bones. A verdict was rendered in accordance with the above facts. |
