Show DIED At Hyrum City, Cache County, Utah on Sunday Nov. 27th 1881 of dyspepsya, Thomas Williams aged 48 years. Bro. Williams embraced the gospel in Monmouthshire, South Wales in the year 1813. Emigrated to Utah in 1833. He settled in Cedar City, Iron County and came to Hyrum with the first settlers in 1861, and was one of the founders of Hyrum City. Bro. Williams was a member of the High Priests Quorum also and active leader in the Sunday School, and a member of the Hyrum choir. He leaves a large family and a very large circle of friends to mourn his death. The funeral services were held on Tuesday the 30th day of November, 1881, in the meeting house. Remarks were made by Bishop O.N. Liljenquist, Elders ? ?, Charles C. Shaw and others. A very large attendance was present. Twenty seven carriages and other ? followed his remains to the grave. Bro. Williams lived and died a faithful Latter-day Saint. Sunday School Supt. A.A. Allen, says of him "I have been personally acquainted with Bro. Williams for 38 years and during all that time I have never known him to do a wrong in any person or be guilty of a dishonest act. ? Bro. Williams had been ill 4 years and during the few days previous to his death he was very anxious about his birthday, the 27th, and as it approached nearer he counted the hours. He died on the day he was 48 years old. |
