Show CAPITAL PERFORMANCE The performance of "Little Baby" by our home company on Saturday evening last, was an unbounded success, and one of the very best they have ever given. Little Ida Hitchcock in the role showed a talent, taste and conception of her part, simply astonishing in one so young. Mr. G. J. Bywater as "John Goldworth: the bereaved husband and injured father, moved the audience deeply, while Mr. Jos. G. Bywater played the villain "L?vic" ca?. Mr. Pearson as "Able Swift" introduced what little comedy there ? in the piece. ? E. J. Haws and D. L? ? well in the minor parts they assumed. Miss Davidson as the duped and deceived wife "Lilly Goldworth" played with a ?, power and effect which quite surprised her friends, and Miss Haws as "Laura" appeared to good advantage. Mrs. G. J. Bywater as "Mary" made quite a hit. This lady is a valuable acquisition to the company. Miss. L. Hayball as "Mrs. Walton" showed capability, and will doubtless improve rapidly. During the performance many of the audience shed tears in spite of themselves. One portly gent, in particular, who occupied a conspicuous seat, manifested a depth of grief which was quite alerting-to the ? of the less emotional. The farce of the "The Omnibus" went off capitally. Mr. Kirkham as "Rooney" the stupid Irish servant, kept the house in a roar, while Mr. G.J. Bywater as "Ledger," Mr. A.W. Jones as "Dobbs" Mr. John ? as "Tom Dobbs, Mister Lester Merrill as "The Warrier's Boy," Miss Davidson as "Julis" and Miss L. Hayball as "Mrs. Dobbs" all contributed to the success and hilarity of the piece. |
