granite many costly experiments as at chicago in october 18 1871 a IJ having proved that granite is a poor stone to toie resist great neat beat in an artificial granite is now proposed the tha natural stone is heated to tn d disintegration integration is then pulverized and raised with the materials materi ila needed to toughen it after being into the various forms debited desir cd bricks tiles etc the latter are ara carefully caie fully dried then placed in a kiln and heated to deas calir by which process the particles aro are fused together the result being a stone of much more durability it is claimed than thau marble it is also ot uniform tes milre strong not susceptible to the tha aati action on of firo fire or heat may bo be readily cut ut still and fitted and caused to res resemble enible cithey light or dark granite or other colors if desired deb ired
