Show Protective and Pattiotic. At the recent dinner of the National Association of the Wool Manufacturers Manufact-urers in Boston, Congressman Russell Rus-sell of Connecticut characterized the Dingly bill as the best Tariff measure ever enacted in this country, but he urged that alll earnest Protectionists Pro-tectionists and patriotic citizens give careful and zealous attention to the subject of foreign market. "Next to a Protective law, which establishes and maintains the home industry," said Representative Russell, Rus-sell, "I want American lines of transportation trans-portation to carry American business busi-ness to foreign market. Give to the America i ship the same support which you have given and asked for the American factory." That is sound doctrine alike from the standpoint of Protection and patriotism. The one thing needed to complete the American scheme of of promoting internal trade and foreign commerce is that the building build-ing and sailing of American ships 0 shall be treated as an American industry. in-dustry. Once assured of that, there will be no lack of American vessels to carry Amer ican commerce. Economist. |
