Show SHIBBOLETH OF EPHRAIM. The Ephraim Enterprise claims to have discovered that an unusual number of missionaries is being eent out of Utah by the Mormon church this year and that from SO to 90 per cent of them are democrats. demo-crats. The San Pete journal opines either that republican church dignitaries are sending a-way a-way the democrats on missions in order to prevent a democratic victory vic-tory next November, or that the republican boys are not smart enough to be entrusted with foreign for-eign missions;' and suggests that the republicans of the state can sieze either horn of the dilemma they choose. Even if the Enterprise Enter-prise is correct, it is very improbable im-probable that its conclusions will meet with great favor among either . the democrats or republicans or the Mormons or Gentiles of Utah. Few would believe that "Box B." is under the thumb of any political party: that young men are called by their ecclesiastical superiors to endanger their lives, sacrifice their property and break the ties which bind them at home, all on the pretense pre-tense of fervent devotion to a religious re-ligious belief and all for the purpose pur-pose of insuring republican conquest con-quest this fall. On the other hand few in' Utah will place credence in the theory that republican boys haven't sense enough to hold their own with the free-traders in the Eulpit. No, Bro. Murray, neither orn of your visionary dilemma will do to tie to, altho, if x ur assirtions aro well-founded, you may-have cause for lamentation; ior it is most likely that after those democratic evangelists have served their terms in the foreign for-eign field and incidentally have seen some of the world, they will come back republicans their own converts; and then, when the few remaining democratic youth find themselves in Utah they too will exclaim "Woe is me if I preach not the gospel !"
