He spoke of the parable of the wheat and the tares growing together for a season, for a wise providence in God. Spoke of the rumors of wars among the great nations of the earth and of the jealousy that exists among them. Said the Latter-day Saints have a key to test whether they have the gospel. Said that the signs spoken of in the scriptures were not to make converts to the gospel, but they do help to strengthen the saints in the raligion they have espoused. Said that saints were advised not to receive re-ceive every spirit, but to try all things and hold fast to that which is good, as in days of old, many had been led astray by false and deLisive spirits. liefer ed to the promise of the Savior telling those in his day that upon the Rock of Revelations he would build his Church and the gates of Hell should not prevail against it. So in our day said we should not be deceived for God does give us his word often, through his servants, in this our own day, and if we follow fol-low after our leaders and keep the commandments God has given us, we will not be led away by any false prophets that may rise up among us. God has given us families and we must do our part to preserve them pure, and to teach them the ways of the Lord, for we are to a certain extent 'responsible for them. Said that while he was out m the ministry he had found some honest seekers after religion, who had been led astray by those 1 factions which have fallen by the way, and some of which had joined this Church when they heard the true gospel. Bore testimony that God had established es-tablished this work on the earth. Edward M. McArthur said it is a source of satisfaction to know that he was considered worthy to speak to the saints. Spoke of the Apostles in the days of the Savior that when the Savior left he told them to "wait before they went out, till they were endowed with power from on High, and they did re-cieve re-cieve the Holy Ghost and then went out and preached in power and did by that spirit perform many miracles by the power of Ood. Spoke of ministers of the present day prepairing themselves to preach that they might gain a living easily, and if you take away their salary they will not preach as a rule. Spoke of his labors while in the ministry and said his success in the ministry was not because of his ability, but it was because he was trying to do the will of God, and to trust in him; and said that the signs do follow the servants of God, when they keep his commandments.
