Show FRUITLAND PARADE i County Commissioner J. E. Carey tells of one of the finest parades at' Fruitland on the 5th in the history of the reservation. The people of the upper country entered into the spirit of Independence day with a vim and as a result the whole section turned out and pulled off a parade 'between an eighth and a quarter of a mile long, and some very unique features resulted. A cow between the shafts of a buggy, a Chinaman riding a-heifer, a long jointed horse rigged out to represent a camel besides a half a dozen beautifully decorated floats made a spectacle that delighted the large assemblage. A literary program took place m the morning, L. R. Carey being the orator of the day. In the afternoon here were foot races and horse races and a ball game in which the single men beat the married by a score of 4 to 1. The day wound up with a dance in the evening. |
