The matter of a rond giving certain sections to the north a convenient outlet out-let to the graveled surfaced road, which has been uppermost in the ininds of a great many of the citizens of the county to he benefitted, has reached the state of action. A commltte, consisting of Jos. Cooper, Coop-er, Tom Gilbert, Marvin Shields and F. SI. Ross of Arcadia, met with the Duchesne Gateway Club at the Legion hall on Thursday evening of last week, and the road situation was gone over and an understanding was arrived arriv-ed at 'between this committee from Arcadia and the Gateway luncheon club. As the people of other communities to the north had manifested an interest inter-est in this connection it was decided to hold a meeting at Upalco last Sunday Sun-day where representatives from Duchesne, Du-chesne, Arcadia, 'Midview and Upalco met to make final arrangements to push this project through. Other communities com-munities further north interested in this link did not get word In time to be represented at" the Upalco meeting. The project outlined and decided upon will be the construction of a road south from Bluebell through Upalco Up-alco and Arcadia to connect with the gravel road at the Antelope bridge. The immediate work to be done this fall will be a road from the Lake Fork bridge at Upalco to main highway at Antelope bridge. The county will make the connection between the grav- j el road at the bridge and the Milview : road a short distance east of .11m ; Parker's place. This stretch is a,1ut 2500 feet, The county will furnish lumber, etc., for culverts and bridges ( and. u road .nan in actual charge of the construction work, and what tools the county has at command. The people of Duchesne will furnish n liberal lib-eral amount of money for use of the committee to buy gas and oil for the tractors and other use where the actual cash is necessary. The people in the several communities interested will furnish the labor. This road will be constructed on the . section line south from the Lakefork bridge to the point of the Blue Bench; and judging from the enthusiasm manifested mani-fested by the people along the line this road will be pushed through in jig time. At the meeting at Upalco Sunday, II. G, Porter opened the meeting and Thomas Gilbert, of Arcadia was made permanent chairman. After considerable consider-able discussion it was decided to have one committee with representative from each community. Each community commun-ity was allowed to select their own representative, which resulted in Jos. Cooiier, Arcadia ; .Tohn L. Ashby, Midview; and Claud Iorg, of Upalco, composing the committee. This committee com-mittee was given power to add representatives repre-sentatives of the other communities as they might suggest. This move is received with considerable consider-able cnthsuiasm from the people to tiie north, and will be of great benefit bene-fit in development and a convenient outlet to the gravel highway. Our trunk line Is about, completed and it is time for us to give the people a north and south road leading to the Jim In highway. |
