Show . , ' I - r. c , ' J . V- tf-r , t ' it A " -j Marsha Firzwarer, crowned Sweetheart Queen of Basin. "The Woman's Touch" How important is a harido? Far more than most of us would care to admit. Really beautiful hair artfully arranged has a magic ma-gic capable of redeeming the plainest of faces. A pretty coif can send your spirits soaring, just as a dreary one can depress you. A hairdo can truly express your individuality. What shows is Style. The choice is limitless today, but the problem s: Which is for you? Which one not only looks well on you, but makes you feel wonderful wearing it? There are many, factors to consider when making your selection. sel-ection. Your face shape, your special arrangement of features, the proportions and size of your figure, .the life you lead and your activities, and the time and money you have to spend. Artists, photographers, beauty bea-uty experts--all proclaim the oval as the perfect face shape. Well, that would be true enough if you could select a hairdo with just your face as the criterion. That's important enough all right, but there's the rest of you to consider too. So, before you choose, study yourself in a full-length full-length mirror, as if you were a stranger. There is another aspect as-pect of you. What is your total look? Are you a "type? " When you accidentally catch your reflection in a mirror-and you have that fleeting feeling of having seen someone else-what do you see? Are you a well-scrubbed, well-scrubbed, all American outdoor type? Then, bypass the siren hairdos and sensational colors if you would be your prettiest self. Is yours a sparkling-eyed, darkhaired, Irish colleen look? With a hint or more of natural curl? Then, don't try for an ash-blonds pure-line Swedish coif. Is it a petite, pixie, face' No exotic hairdos for you either. Have you a regal or madonna look? Then detour the feather-and feather-and ruffle-cuts. Be yourself, be your type. In your search for the ultimate ulti-mate coif for you, beware of one trap: Don't copy someone else's hairdo just because you admire that person and her way of wearing her tresses. To be copied is the highest form of flattery. To copy is to be a sheep. Your hair is one accessory acces-sory that can be custom-made for you and you alone. Even if you were Jacqueline Kennedy's twin, her hairdo could be wrong for you simply because your way of life is different from hers. You should choose your hairdo not only because, it's right for your face shape, for the total look of you, but for how and where you live and who you are. As you turn the pages of fashion fash-ion magazines you will see coifs that will be copied over and over as though cookycuttered out on an assembly line. Don't be tempted to follow the leader. That's a childrens game and you're a grownup. You would, and should, be you, no matter the prevailing winds of fashion. If it's blowing coifs or stirring up a storm of bouffants and those styles aren't becoming to your hair and you, turn your back on the breeze until it blows over. Remember that the hairdo news and styles you read and see should serve only as a guide to be used as they meet your needs and taste. That's the beauty of this, your most exciting excit-ing fashion accessory--it's custom-designed for you. And it's almost the last one where a woman, no matter her statues, can truly express her individuality, individual-ity, and her femininity. So, don't throw away your opportun-? opportun-? ity-don't have a cooky-cutter hairdo. Be yourself, and you'll love it. |
