A Hollenbeck We have gathered here today to pay tribute and bid farewell toa to toa toa a friend and comrade who who during the years of his association with villi villius us ua has endeared him to our hearts s Guy has been an honored citizen citizen citizen citi citi- zen of this community for many years and during all that time timi he has been a cheerful and conscientious conscientious con con- worker in the affairs o ot of the community a booster for hi his adopted state and a friend to all al who came in contact with him Born in Colorado in 1894 h he I spent his childhood in Salida Colo and was educated in th the Colorado State Agricultural College College College Coll Coll- ege and at OberlIn He has been beer beena beera a resident of Duchesne during the past 21 years with the exception of th that t period when he answered faithfully faithfully faithfully faith faith- his country's call and served fully and well in the army anny of the United States As a D Sergeant he took part in th battles o of Thierry Chateau-Thierry and the Argonne Argonne- Meuse offensive I he served his In In time of war I country faithfully and well anc ancin and andin andin in time of peace he has continued to serve as a citizen a and a public servant For the pas past nine years he has been in charge of some miles of state highway highway highway high high- way radiating from Duchesne Always Always Always Al Al- ways congenial he has made many friends during these ten years year and I can truly say as one who who has worked for him and with him in hi all aU these years there is no man who has been associated with him either as an employee or in any other capacity who he could not consider as a friend and no man manto manto manto to whom he would not extend a helping hand or a jovial word of cheer in time of trouble In all the years that I have known him and during th these years I have been quite closely associated with him in the Legion civic affairs and in more intimate personal association I have hae never heard him speak ill of any of his fellow men He was considerate of others to the nth degree always cheerful and always smiling always al always al- al ways willing to do his bit In his going this town has suffered a loss which is keenly felt and to his comrades of the Legion it isa is isa isa a loss which is irreparable The Colonel as we affectionately affectionately affectionately affection affection- called him has been on one of our staunchest supporters s and a colorful and an outstanding member member member mem mem- ber of all of our assemblies We Ve his comrades will continue to miss him Wm and as during the coming years our ever thinning ranks assemble assemble assemble as as- to pay homage to t those os comrades who have proceeded ec us its into the great beyond I am sure that as we place the colors for which he fought and which he served so well in war and peace in the marker on his grave the palsied trembling of of- our hands will not all be due to advancing years and as as' we stand at salute while the silvery notes of the bugle play the soldiers' soldiers last farewell farewell farewell fare fare- well our eyes will be too dim to see the ghostly parade which passes in review but I am sure I that the Colonel will be there leading the parade and returning the salute like the good soldier that he was Guy old comrade comrad rest in peace your bUd buddies lies in behalf of your buddies everywhere once once- more I salute you Mr and Mrs Herb Herbert rt Wood of Price were in Duchesne Saturday to attend the services for Mr Hollenbeck Mr Wood returned Sunday while Mrs Wood remained remain remain- ed to visit her daughter Mrs Lynn Bennett for tor a few day days Governors Governor's Day was as o observed In Roosevelt Tuesday and in Vernal Wednesday when representatives from Basin towns met to discuss the Basins Basin's problems ms with Govern Governor or Henry H H.
