E A A. A Talks TaBes At our Monday meeting our new Educational Advisor gave an interesting in interesting interesting in- in talk on his trip to the camp and a general idea of what he is contemplating on doing This is what he talked about Last Saturday morning before old mother Moon had gathered in her crop of stars I placed my few belongings in the back of a convoy truck which soon was to be outon out outon outon on its way to the Moon Lake camp In that cold misty dawn I there passed thru me just a little feeling of remorse I was heading for a place that I knew nothing about A place where I had no friends and where I was to carry on a work entirely new to me mc As the early morning sun peered over the mountain tops and its silvery rays reflected upon the hillsides covered with yellow tinted green pine r T caught a n. view of the quakes blending into the deep place which I was to call home I IMy My spirits started to rise just dust a little yet as the old truck pulled to a stop I was still about as lonesome and felt about as M much out of place as Rodney when Mr I Warthen is away from camp I realized that my position here I might make some some of you fellows feel that you were going to be forced into some extra work and after a good hard days labor on some project I realized d that such would not be very welcome I unloaded myself from the truck still lacking a knowledge of the score inquired as to the location location location loca loca- tion of the office and then went in After a word of greeting and anda a welcome handshake from each of the lieutenants I felt a littlemore little littlemore littlemore more at home After a visit around camp and an introduction to my Assistant Steve I began to feel much better The real thrill however however however how how- ever came when I started meeting meeting meeting meet meet- ing all of the gang of fellows around camp After meeting a number of you directly or I found welling up within me a wish that we might b be real frien friends And so an e. e expression of my greatest desire right now would be that between us there may develop a ak a. real spirit of brotherhood and that we may behonest be behonest behonest honest to goodness pals and bud bud- dies I realize that all days are not going to be happy for all of us Since coming I have seen the departure departure departure de de- de- de of a number of our comrades comrades comrades com com- rades even though we wish th them m the best st of luck and hope that success may be th their Ir lot We felt sorry to see them go But fellows fellowson on a gloomy day if there com tomes comes s a tinge on n you you hear that your best girl goes back on you you hear that your mother Ill come inand in inand inand and talk it over with me I have had all of those experiences and realize just how tough it makes a person feel yet I r know that talking talking talking talk talk- ing it over with some one makes me feel better and I believe that it will work the same way with you As yet I have havo developed no specific educational program I want you fellows to do that I believe that even as much as you appreciate the job from Uncle Sam as fine as the officers and foreman are even as much as you enjoy camp cooking someday you are going to wan want t to leave the When you do you will want I to go out to some sort of work that will make for you a living and give you happiness While you I are here in camp you contact men who are skilled in the various professions of life These men have consented to pass on to you some of the learning that they have received received received re re- re- re in school and on on the job School or college would demand as a tuition a little hard earned cash but Uncle Sam Is la giving you this for the small price of just a little expended effort Fellows think it over Would you like to speak English more clearly Or learn to fix a Ford Would you like tc to run a successful dairy or poultry farm Do your desires turn to serving out a tasty meal These and many other subjects will be taught if it you are interested in them You owe it to yourself your friends and your country to improve improve im im- im- im prove yourself Decide today to take a class at the Conservation College carry it thru and I am sure that it will be worth your while Dont Don't worry if your job fob is small and your rewards are few
