A Dart of ot My Myton ton one of the directors were guests These gentlemen came to ask the local club to support the Moon Lake project It was a surprise to many here because Duchesne is not supposed supposed supposed sup sup- posed to be vitally concerned As the matter unfolded it was apparent apparent apparent ent that Duchesne is really Interested interested interested inter Inter- ested and might have some voice in this big project In this dry year as we remember remember ber her it Lake Fork river is turning o out t about 75 second feet of water now and the Uintah river with Whiterocks tributary is giving forth perhaps second feet Evidently Evidently Evidently Evi Evi- dently the two streams in this low water period are flowing as much pura as all the streams screams in Utah south of Brigham City west of the Wasatch It may not be unfair to say that Uintah Basin water aside from Green river river river riv riv- riv- riv er and Including Ashley valley to today today today to- to day flow more water or as much muchas as all other streams in Utah west westi of the Wasatch range That's something to remember There is a feeling in the Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- Du- Du chesne section that all Moon Lake water should be used used- in the Lake Fork valley that is none taken over to the Uintah river country Moon lake may all be economically used where the Good Lord Intended it by the lay of the land to be used Mountain Home and Talmage Talmage Talmage Tal- Tal mage sections with Blue bench can easily absorb all Moon lake not needed by the Dry Gulch Irrigation Irrigation Irrigation gation company on the Lake Fork drainage Uintah river has enough storage possibilities with water now provIded provided provided pro pro- vided in the lakes on that stream to give glue fair protection to the crops This was true in 1928 1930 and not enough in 1931 But in 1929 the Dry Gulch did not use any any of the storage water now provided on the Uintah Many say Bay that Indian water will when used WHEN take all the stream flow in the average season after high water This is not perhaps perhaps perhaps per per- haps true at all if we fight the gravel bar waste and if we demand demand demand de de- de- de mand and secure better Continued on last Page |
