M Lyric Moore Company, presenting H "Sentenced to Death." 1 Catchy music, pretty girls and hand-1 hand-1 some stage settings are a wonderful-M wonderful-M ly effective combination. Such is the fl Cohan national song show, "George M Washington, Jr.," which opened at V the Salt Lake theatre Wednesday H night. The company is an excellent H one, the title role being taken by H Carter De Haven, a rising young 11 comedian who is exceedingly clever. V One of the best things of the entire M. performance is Mr. De Haven's IockI M hits in "If Washing Came to Life.'' H Will is Swcatman, as Eaton Ham, M' the tip-hunting negro, shares the hon-H hon-H ors with Mr. De Haven. Other mem-H mem-H bcrs of the company worthy of es-H es-H pecial mention are Flora Parker, Lo-H, Lo-H, li Hoffman, Lcnora Anderson, Frank j McNish, Jr., Jack Rafael and John A'. H Boone. The chorus is made up of M good singers as well as "good look- H The Saurday matinee and the Sat- H urtlay night performance has been 1 cancelled, to allow the company to 1 reach San Francisco in time to open H Sunday night, much to the sorrow of M many Salt Lakers who had figured M on attending one of these pcrform- M anccs, and will now miss one of the M best shows of the season. M m The woman who has the habit of M , smashing up the chinaware can get M( a fcw pointers at the Orpheum this B week, where one Baggcson breaks all M J records in the dish-smashing line, and M incidentally furnishes about fifteen 1 minutes of the most mirth provoking B maneuvers one could imagine. The H entire performance is satisfying. M Maymc Remington's pickaninnies are M, a whole show in themselves, the smal- M ' lost one of the quartette being espec- Hjj ially clever. The three Urma sisters Hl( arc'trapczc artists of high order, and Mt Charles Manvcl, the contortionist, h M one of the best seen here in some M time. A pair of clever dancers, La H Belle Oterita, and her French dan- l ccrs, open the performance. The male j quartette is a passably good one, cs- M pccially two of the members, the ten- M j or and bass. The motion pictures, "The Ride of Paul Revere" is the H best ever shown at the Orpheum. |
