Show , I COMING ATTRACTIONS. Salt Lake Theatre "The Prince Chap," August 1, 2 and 3. . ; Orpheum "What Happened to ! 1 Jones," Monday- night. Special prr-1 prr-1 f , formance. . i ' ..,-, This is the farwell week at the f .Orpheum, and there's many a patron jte J of this theatre who will be genuinely V j "sorry to see the last of the little com- &j . 1 ' pariy that has held the boards since $ ' ! the close of the vaudeville season. J J . But they have decided to no longer I risk playing to empty houses, owing !i 'to 'the severe heat war that has struck t. us, and after the special engagement ';. ' on next Monday night of "What Hap- l pened to Jones," the Orpheum will be placed in the. hands of the clcan- Icrs and decorators until the opening of the vaudeville season. The bill 1 this week is ''Turned Up," preceded j by the one-act play by James K. Jcr-: Jcr-: ome, "Barbara." This little skit is 3 gem as presented by Miss Anita H'cn-? H'cn-? dric, Miss Priscilla Knowlcs, J. -W. 'fll 1 Bennett and Luke Cosgrove. Miss A I Hcndric is especially good as Bar- ,;; ' ' bara, her rendition of this character U ' being the best bit of work she has j- I presented during her stay in Salt Lake. We have seen this company k; j .wherf'tney were, in a more happy vein, 11 . than in "Turned up." But for all fi ' .' that; the presentation is a good one. I , ' .Mr. Miles, Mr. Phillips and Mr. I , I O'Meara carry, off the honors, Miss ' 5 Moore and Miss Florence having but i' 1 -.little to do in the fun-making line, j The other members of the company, j filled their parts' very acceptably. j The Lyric closed for the season ! on Tuesday night, and will reopen ' on August 31st. The warm weather bas seemed to militate against this j popular little vaudeville house the J past few weeks, hence a dctcrmina-. dctcrmina-. tion on the part of the management - to take a vacation. The bill prescnt-j prescnt-j cd the fore part of the week was a 1 very creditable one, and under different dif-ferent conditions would undoubtedly j have drawn crowded houses. But theatre-goers are looking towards the '"lake and the other resorts for means of whiling away their idle moments , these warm evenings, hence the actor "'folk are forced to take a vacation. j The Musical Chautauqua at Wan-j Wan-j damcre park has been well patron-if patron-if I ! ' zcd 'and has been a source of much ! ; enjoyment to the music lovers of - Zion. ' , i |
