I The outing of the Young Men's j Republican club and their friends at Saltair last Monday was a very successful suc-cessful and a Very enjoyable affair. There was a large attendance at the beach and the day passed off most auspiciously. Hewlett Bros. Co., has issued a .r 'W very neat souvenir of the 20th anniversary an-niversary of the. establishment of their coffee, baking powder and ex tract mills in this city. The souvenir consists of descriptive matter and photographs of various portions of the factory. The Hewlett factory is the largest of its kind between the Missouri Mis-souri river and the Pacific Coast and has grown steadily and surely ever, since its establishment twenty years ago. It is a credit to the city and a monument to the enterprise and busi ness ability of the members of the I firm. f . I i The death of Mrs. J. B. Moreton. I wife of City Recorder Moreton, wa I most distressing. Mrs. Moreton ivas I in the prime of life and a most es- ' timablc lady devoted to her home and family. Death came very sud- denly and unexpectedly and left an aching void in the hearts of her husband hus-band and children. She was born in Salt Lake City and passed nearly a.! her life here, fulfilling well her part 1 as a wife, mother and friend. The I bereaved husband and children have J the sincere sympathy of the commu nity generally in which they arc web known and respected. ... j Mr. Edwin E. Hatch of this city, formerly of Dallas, Texas, died at St. Mark's hospital on Tuesday, the result re-sult of an attack of appendicitis for which he underwent an operation. Mr. Hatch, although not a very old resident of Salt Lake, had many friends here who deeply regret his .. demise. He was a most kindly gen-' gen-' J ' ial gentleman who had the art of making and keeping friends. He was a typical Southern gentleman, warm hearted and generous. He has two sons in business here. Mrs. Hatch 1 and his daughters were in Texas when 1 he was taken ill and death came so quickly that they could not get here in time to see him before he breathed j his last. He was 66 years of age, U lived a useful life and leaves many friends who sincerely mourn his de-I de-I parture and extend warmest sympa- j a tnv t0 ms sorrowing family. W |
