Show ... ' Steamboat Springs, Colo. Thousands watch as hundreds dance on U. S. Highway 40, main street of Steamboat Springs. This scene, made at last year's Square Dance Festival, will be duplicated on August 11-12 when the 2nd annual Square Dance Festival will draw thousands of square dance fans to the northwestern Colorado resort. Scores of square dance groups in colorful early-west garb from various western states will participate in a no-contest dance jamboree. jam-boree. Ed Gilmore, dean of California callers, will be in charge. "Tread of Pioneers," a historical pageant, will be a feature of the two-day program. Ute Indian dancers from their reservation in Utah will present their seldom-seen Sun Dance, appearing for the first time in many decades at one of the Ute's favorite camping grounds. Sponsors of the annual square dance festival are the Yampa Valley square dance clubs. Chamber of Commerce, Perry-Mansfield Camps and Lowell Whiieman Ranch for Boys. , . i |
