an unnecessary confession A hearty laugh was occasioned at al the birmingham police court by a pris oner who gave himself away in a a very delightful manner the man was the first on the list hat and the charge against him was merely one of being druch and disorderly lie he stepped into the tha dock however just at the moment when the dock officer was reading out a few of the cases which were to come coma before the court that morning and a guilty conscience apparently led him hial to mistake these items a list of hla his previous convictions ile he stood enough while tits th officer read out about a dozen druch and orderlies dis but when he came to ta one the prisoner exclaimed excitedly that was eight elgha years ago your honor everyone began to laugh and the prisoner realis ing the blunder he had made at first looked very black indeed but finally fl n ally saw the humorous side of the matter and a broad smile spread over his face ills his blunder did not cost anything birmingham mall
