Show mrs C L L price of lincoln rejoices with arrival of hother mother from england A 11 a 1 TI J V witt A A 4 ell mrs mary E wynn left moth mo th er of mrs C L price right or ar rived in lincoln from england Eng larid mrs charles L price of lincoln has been rejoicing the past week over the arrival of her mother mrs mary E wynn of lancashire england mrs price had not seen her mother for 2 years until she a raved last week after a voyage from froni then to tooele thoele the entire trip taking only a week mrs price met her husband w hile he was stationed with te the U S army in england during the war they met through their assoria tion with the latter da saint church and were married on june 8 1944 two days after D day they had planned to marry on june ath but because of the preparation for to make her home with her daughter on march 5 photo by W D bush the invasion were forced to p post 0 st pone their plans for two days E even ven then mr price had to receive a special pass from general doolittle before he was allowed out of his camp mr price returned to the th e united states in april 1945 and his wife followed him a year later mrs wynn arrived in tooele thoele on march 5 she come from an industrial city of population in the cen ter of the iron and steel mills of colton before coming here she w was as in the news agent business conditions poor in england she reports that conditions in england are very difficult today clothing and food is still rationed and the shops are almost empty people are allowed 20 clothing coupons which must last 7 months it takes 19 coupons for a dress IS 18 for a coat or suit 7 for a pair of shoes and even handkerchiefs and aprons require coupons when a man is measured for a suit he must still wait 6 months to abt it the people form long lines in or der to buy their food and there are many scarcities mrs price and her mother have had many memorable experiences together during the war their home was barely missed when a land mine exploded within 20 yards of it destroying every other house in that section upon an other occasion while in london mrs price missed the underground railcar that usually took her home she caught the next one and when it had gone a little ways she saw that the tram train she normally would have taken had been hit with a rocket bomb and all passengers killed active latter day saint scant these and other experiences m make ake both mrs wynn and mrs price happy to be in america mrs wynn had three sons in the ser vice one in the ath army under who participated in all all major engagements from africa to berlin besides these three she has one other son and two daugh in england she Is a member of the church ch and served as sunday school superintendent in her branch at oldham during the war she is delighted with utah and thinks the people are so nice and friendly she has never seen such high mountains before and is hap py to be living so close to them all the stores full of merchandise and their beautiful displays nat aurally please and excite her very much and she still marvels at the fact that she can go into a store and buy anything she wants with out coupons or waiting mrs wynn hopes to become a permanent resident of this country and wishes her other children will j follow her over here some day |
