Show grantsville GRANTS VILLE elsie green mrs mae castagno was hostess to her sewing club recently on the occasion of eva browns brown s birthday the group spent the evening re cording their voices and presented mrs brown with a black hand bag those present were the guest of honor mrs brown amelia pal mer alice sample daphne orr eva sandberg margaret flinders gladys ratcliffe and the hostess the seniors of grantsville Grants ville high presented their annual jinx last thursday evening in the opera house the play was original and was written by the students with the help of peg and sterl ander son jackie sutton and lee cald well helped with the music claude parkinson class president present ed these folks with corsages and button aires in appreciation of their patience and help peggy helped with the dances richard bear painted the scenery and gladys roberts help ed with the makeup kent callister known as jim ser ved as master of ceremonies for the play which they were rehears ing for a future broadway run the first act presented their practice climaxed with the telegram stat ing that bill the boss son john K sutton would arrive soon the second act opened with a surprise arlo fawson was the bucking bronc for the son and he was really yelling about his ach ing back bill hadn t seen any in deans so frank durfee was elect ed to be chief underwater Th bill at the beginning of the third act the boss ray drake acied by bill appeared on the scene they got out of sight where they could hear and see all thus getting a first hand idea of how the play was progressing the re suits were gratifying and jim re a job as producer with bill as his assistant that senior class has more tal ent than you can shake a tick stick at roland andersen anderson played the accordian and pat cook ac compan led him sally severe marva cook and delores jefferies Jef fenes sang to the accompaniment of ralph severe and pat cook bill ratcliffe wayne mcbride a boys quartet and a girls girl s double trio presented other musical numbers delores jef fenes feries sang a solo and roland sang with one of his accordion numb ers the class presented an old time dance with arlo fawson doing the calling and as usual arlo stole the show he and jane gave a reading for the comedy effects on the program arlo went ahr thru u motions while jane told the story dorothy higley gave a tribute to the west all the traditional western songs were used real western atmos phere was provided and the play ended up as a typical presenta tion of the cowboys of these boys and girls with the aid of their advisors did a fine job and put on a superb performance the pattern will be a good one to follow ha hal not one but three or four people told me that I 1 didn dian t know who was on the senior scout team and I 1 guess I 1 didn dian t those I 1 men tinned are in the class david orr lynn millward marlo mario may donald hammond deloy anderson lesley askland terry hibler and rob ert anderson are on the team they are second place in division II 11 with magna in first place |
