kicking tackle nailed down a tackle spot ort 04 the team and howard rock wall tooele thoele s co capt and guard won a place on the third hesni tooele thoele s co capt cadt charlie lee was the buffaloes chief ground gainer in every game playing stel lar roles in both tl e offensive and defensive le maneuvers of the buffs lee wa an outstanding star in every game but really reached the heights in the game against bingham in this game lee was a roaring raging ball carrier rip IV off ga n after gain only stop ping when he was swarmed under v superior numbers no one tack ler let brought lee down that night it took three or four miners to stop him T ee is a senior 6 feet 2 marres tall and weighs pounds he is not an especially fast runner but n football talk he is known as a hard runner meaning he s hard to bring down lees lee s forte is a de cestive change of pace a stiff straight arm and that extra drive that carries him forward even aft or he apparently has been also a better than average passer A cool calm play er lee always rose to the occasion and was a great team player and a fine leader of his team mates congratulations co capt charlie lee glen bones hamilton is only a junior but his sterling play ean ed him a spot on the all state first team this gangling end must be made out of raw hide to have tak en the pounding ha he took game aft er game never having to take a time out standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing pounds bones is one of the finest pass snagging ends in the business hamilton can catch any pass he can lay his glue covered end congratulations glen hamilton kent callister grantsville Grants ville s tack ie le and place kicking specialist won a tackle spot on the tele gram grams s s second team when coach ray peterson took over the coaching helm at grants ville he brought with him an out standing record as a place kicker earned while playing football at the universo ty of utah cmach pet erson took callister under his wing a boy who had never before done any kicking and during the seas on ons s play kent developed into a dependable kicker it was callis ter s place kick that gave the cow boys their lone victory of the seas on a 7 6 win over murray kent was as fine a line man as any coach could ask for big and fast callister was as good on the offense as he was on the defense smearing every enemy runner and opening gaping holes in opponents forward lines kent proved his right among utah s allsta all by turning in outstanding perform ance in every game callister is 5 feet 11 tall and geighes pounds A senior cal lister graduates this spring and his presence will be sorely missed next year but for this year at least kent proved he is one of the best congratulations kent callister athe fourth man from tooele thoele county to etch his name 04 the all state honor roll is tooele thoele s co capt howard rock wall who captures a guard spot on the third team during tooele thoele s first five games howard was the shining light in the buffs stubborn forward wall howard was a genius at diagnose ing enemy plays and usually managed to be at the right place at the right time to spill the ball carrier A boy that really loves the game of football wall was at his best when the going was the toughest rock ate up the rock em sock em bodily contact A fighting inspired ired leader how ard was a fitting co capt for the tooele thoele buffaloes rock suffered in injuries during the murray fracas and missed the bingham game the death of howard s fa ther necessitated howard missing the grantsville Grants ville game missing these two games is the only reas on rock did not win a place on the first team congratulations co capt how ard wall to the many fine footballers on the tooele thoele and grantsville Grants ville squads that are just as capable and tal anted but who for some reason failed to win a place on the honor teams the chronicle extends con granulations on playing every game to the hilt and furnishing the fans of tooele thoele county the best football seen in these parts for years it its s tough to pick an all state team 19 class B high schools and their football teams were considered in choosing the players on the all state team over individuals compared each other and only 33 positions to be filled its a cinch that many good boys were left off the teams to coaches johnny and bay ray peterson this writer wishes to express his thanks for the fine ca operation time and information both extended at all times both teams were well coached and well trained and ean even though both wanted to win every game even more important that that of winning were the lessons of fair play and sportsmanship that these men instilled in their boys appos ing coaches and players were lav ish in their praise of the hard clean brand of football that grantsville Grants ville and tooele thoele played throughout the season it was a grand season and we re sorry to see it close and are al eady ready looking forward to next year |
