Show scipio man L A will observe birthday this W week eek jesse B martin martin oldest resident of millard county will observe his ninety eighth birth day quietly on wednesday nov 19 at the home of his daughter mrs nora ivie in scipio born in salt lake city nov 19 1849 a son of jesse B ind soph roma rom moore martin he came to scipio at the age of 14 when his father was called by brigham young to pres de over the round valley branch the name was later changed to scipio he was the first marshall of scipio and has always been an active worker in the church of jesus christ of latter day saints besides a foreign mission and sev eral stake missions he has served in the sunday school and mutual improvement association and as a ward teacher he ile is now a high priest mr martin has been credited with great faith in healing of the sick and it was never too cold or stormy for him to go when he was called where there was any one sick and in need of help he ile spends much time now reading the church works and reads with out the aid of glasses he ile has a strong testimonial since the death of his wife in 1925 he has lived with his son in law and daughter mr and mrs wilbert ivie he is still able to get around well and wait on himself and enjoys the daily con tact with his friends and neighbors he ile was the father of eight chil dren four sons and four daughters six children are still living jesse martin blackfoot idaho mrs eu nice cornell boise idaho mrs myra bone salt lake city mrs I 1 nora ivie wesley and cecil mar tin of scipio he has 34 grandchild ren and 47 41 great grandchildren thirteen of his grandsons were called into service during the world war and one gave his life for his country his youngest son is a veteran of world war I 1 very best wishes in appreciation of his value as a fellow citizen are extended to mr martin on his birthday |
