| Show 1 IBAPAH B A P A H mary ann snively A mr taylor of salt galt lake city wag was visiting in our valley on fri day afternoon mr jim hudson Is going to be a house guest of the jay hicks hick s for a few days the F F snively s had a candy making spree at their home on saturday night those helping out were mrs melba nicholes mrs betty ruth page mr and mrs T F lee and the ken A Sni A horseback nde ride was enjoyed by all the ibapah school children and their teacher on saturday mr parrish and joyce motored to wendover on sunday to pick up mrs parrish who was tending the bateman baby while mrs bateman underwent an operation mrs bate man will be home soon too mr nicholes left on sunday for a four day business trip to amen can fork and salt lake city mr and mrs ed of gold hill were in our valley on monday afternoon upon reading oren probert s ar tides of the and the I 1 have only this to say aid and I 1 think I 1 can speak for all the people of our valley when he tells of our road conditions and that we don dont t get in return what we pay out in taxes and that tooele thoele county BS as a whole forgets about us till elec tion time he t exaggerated but as for the rest of his articles we feel it is exaggerated to the fullest extent in his article of the he tells how the children of ibapah leave here to enter high school in tooele thoele because the eighth grade is the highest they can go here how they are frightened to death because its the most people they have ever seen and how he him self was as green as the grass on the country side he had never seen an inside lavatory especially with feminine fixtures till he entered high school in toodie tooele this isn t so even in oren s childhood here in the valley there were two homes with inside lava torys be sides that he had been to salt lake and several other places with his folks before he entered high school in tooele thoele oren made it sound as though once in ibapah you never get out until you start high school you never have seen a town or city school building just our two room brick one in ibapah III admit our valley and our ranches aren t up to snuff it may look a hundred years behia the times but that isn t any sign that the people are so far be hind all that goes on in the out side world there are still a few little children who as yet haven t seen the sights of salt lake city or thoele tooele but there are several modern modem homes in ibapah so these children will have seen an inside lavatory before entering high school in tooele thoele or wherever they will go most all of the school children have visited the school in Wn wendover dover and some in tooele thoele while others have visited in ely those who haven t seen inside town schools or seen a high school building will before it comes time for them to start high school there are many things that s so much more disgraceful than re turning home on account of home sickness as was the case of our ibapah school girl most all of our ibapah children are capable of hav ing the courage to carry on their educational program regardless of the oddity of their clothes and their bashful backward country ways all the children attending the tooele thoele high school gasn wasn t the largest crowd our ibapah school girl had seen in her life either all we ask of tooele thoele is that they will let our children of ibapah grasp the education that tooele thoele has to offer we feel certain that they will make just as ing a citizen as some of the oth ers we here in ibapah certainly don t expect to have a high school if there could be one in wendover it would simplify matters for the parents here in ibapah in spite of being as green as the grass and the oddity in clothes they may have had to wear we have some children who were born and raised in our valley that we are very proud of right off hand I 1 can think of one lawyer who at this time is practising practicing in salt lake city he was a boy here in ibapah be fore orens oren s time or I 1 mary asniv ly lys s we have two registered nurs es one bacteriologist and a couple of school teachers those who did n t carry on from high school have children who one day too may make a noted mark in this U USA S A |
