women make dolls as a hobby ON il 1 14 1 k 4 IN e mrs jessie delamare so ath and mrs donna chass so ath and a few of the dolls what started out as just a im means eans to pass away the long hours in a hospital turned first into a hobby and then a means to earn a little extra pin money for mrs jessie delamare originally a grantsville Grants ville girl but for the past five years a resident of tooele thoele jessie was stricken with poliomyelitis in september of 1945 while lying in a hospital bed a red cross worker brought mrs de lamare a few shells to make shell jewelry to help while away the long hours jessie soon discovered that besides passing away the time at the hospital her new found hobby was equally intriguing after she had recovered from the dread disease and had returned to her home in tooele thoele branching out in the craft it wan t long before mrs delamare was doing leather work painting figures making lamp stands book ends and novelty ash trays all of her handiwork is well nigh per feet and the finished product is not only novel and beautiful but also useful As christmas time approaches jessie has enlisted the aid of her good friend and neighbor mrs donna chriss and together they are making the dolls pictured a bove the attractive little playmates are approximately 12 inches high made out of cloth with yam yarn hair and button eyes and nose the I 1 dolls come completely dressed from the tops of their fuzzy little heads right down to the stockings and patent leather shoes mrs delamare and mrs chriss turn out four dolls in their spare time each day all types of these unique little dolls are made by their deft and talented hands dolls of every nationality pretty little dolls dolls with freckles and dolls that every girl from 1 to can love they are making to be given as christmas gifts
