Show nti. :z:zr PG City Council Revisits Secondary Water Rates, Usage and Proposals Pleasant Grove City will be increasing utility rates over the next four years. It was requested request-ed by Pleasant Grove residents that secondary water rates be researched to create a rate that was more equitable to the residents. resi-dents. The best way to do this is to install water meters on the secondary water system, but because be-cause of the large cost of putting in meters, another option had to be considered. The option will be discussed dis-cussed at a city council public pub-lic hearing May 24, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the bays of the Pleasant Grove Fire Station at 92 East 100 South. The new proposed rates would be implemented over a three year window starting with the first bill in July. The proposed pro-posed rates will include a base rate plus a multiplier based on the size of your lot. Examples of the rates have been calculated with a base rate of $16.20 with a lot size multiplier multi-plier (per square foot): .000287. If, for example, you have a 10,000 square foot lot, your monthly rate would be on July 1 , 2011: Base rate $16.20, lot size multiplier (10,000 x.000287) $2.87 for a total monthly bill of $19.07. On July 1, 2012 with the base rate of $16.20, plus lot size multiplier: .000574 for a total monthly bill of $21.94. On July 1, 2013 the base rate would be $16.20, plus the lot size multiplier of $8.61 for a total monthly bill of $24.81. A large lot appeal is only available to those who have lots over one acre in size. The appeal allows you to have an engineering engineer-ing firm determine the square footage of the landscaped portion por-tion of your lot. The minimum square footage of the landscaped land-scaped portion your lot size can be for billing purposes is 43,560 (one acre). The cost to appeal is $50. Pleasant Grove City will credit those who want to rent irrigation shares to the city at $3.58 per share per month or equivalent, depending on the source of the water share. This will allow the city to capture additional ad-ditional water for the secondary system. These rates will apply only to those who are on the Pleasant Grove Secondary Water System. Sys-tem. For those who qualify for the property tax abatement, the city has a program to offer of-fer reduced utility rates. Please inquire with city staff at (801) 785-5045. |
