Show SCS Board Elects Officers In Recent Member Balloting George M. White, Chairman Chair-man of the Grand Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors, released re-leased today the results of the latest elections for District Supervisors. George Geo-rge M. White and Pete Doles were both reelected to the Board. Arnel Holy-oak Holy-oak is a newly elected supervisor. su-pervisor. Mr. White has served on the Board for the last 3 years and has been Chairman Chair-man for the past year. He owns and runs a ranch in Spanish ValLey. Pete Doies has served on the Board for the past 3 years and has been secretary secre-tary - treasurer for that same period. He owns and runs a ranch in Professor Valley area. Arnel Holyoak will be serving his first term as a member of the district board. He owns farm land in Moab Valley and in the Spanish Valley area. O. E. Boulden and D.L. Taylor are the appointed members of the Board. Their terms expire in 1971 and 1972 respectively. The Grand Soil Conservation Conser-vation District was organized organ-ized on June 3, 19-W. It was the Twelfth District organized or-ganized in the State of Utah. Districts are managed manag-ed by citizens who kno-.v local pjbleins. In Utah there are five members on a district board of supervisors. super-visors. They are not public pub-lic employees and they receive re-ceive no salary. Three of the members are elected by the local landowners and two are appointed Ly the State Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Commission. Conservation DL-.lricts are legal subdivisions of state government and are responsible under state law for conservation work within their boundaries just as counties are re. sponsible for roads and other services. The purpose pur-pose of districts under state law is to focus attention at-tention on land, water and related resource problems They are to develop programs pro-grams to solve the problems prob-lems and 'enlist and coordinate co-ordinate help from ali public and private sources that can contribute to accomplishing ac-complishing the district's goals. |
