Show Services Held For Well Known Blanding Woman Word was received this week of the death of a long time Blanding resident, Hattie Ellen Redd Barton, 88. Mrs. Barton died January Jan-uary 12, of natural causes. Mrs. Barton was born February 10, 1881 in Bluff to Lemuel Hardison Jr. and Etaia Ann Westover Redd. In Febraury of 1907, she married Joseph Franklin Barton in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and is preceded pre-ceded in death1 by him. A member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Barton served on a Navajo-Zuni mission for that organization. She also held several other positions pos-itions in her church. After graduating from the B Y U &rmal School, she attended attend-ed the University of Utah and Utah State University. She then taught school in Bluff and Blanding and at one time served as principal of the Blanding Elementary School. She is survived by sons and daughters, Mr. Wesley-Franklin Wesley-Franklin Barton, Mr. Harold Har-old R. Barton, both of Moab, Mo-ab, Mrs. Sheldon (Donna i Bell of Middletown California, Californ-ia, Mrs. Russell R. (Roma) Foynor of Geniva, 111.; brothers bro-thers and sisters, Mr. Charley Char-ley Redd, Provo; Mr. A. Jay Redd, Monticello; Mrs. Edith Ed-ith R. Lewis, San Francisco California; Mrs. Lawrence (Amy) Snow, Coppertown; Mrs. Carlie Shurtliff, Bountiful Boun-tiful and Mrs. Sam (Anna) Naff, Bountiful. Mrs. Barton Bar-ton also is survived ' by 23 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Burial was Wednesday, January 14, at the Blanding City Cemetery with funeral services held at the Blanding Bland-ing LDS Chapel. |
