Show Cougar Hunt Progressing In Utah Several cougar hunters hunt-ers afield so far this year have reported success suc-cess in bagging their quarry. Utah Wildlife Resources Re-sources biologists and conservation officers are collecting canine teeth to age the animals. This will give information informa-tion on the age makeup of the population and also will indicate whether the population is stable or fluctuating. Such factors will aid in better understanding under-standing and management manage-ment of the cougar in Utah. The cougar hunt ends April 15, 1973, after which they may not be hunted or harassed for several months. Such protection was not given the cougar in Utah until it received game animal classification. Prior to this classification and establishment of controlled con-trolled hunting seasons, cougars were open to unlimited hunting by anyone any-one at any time. |
