Show Million-Plus Building Year Noted in Area Valuations on building permits for 1972, with less than a week left in the month of December Decem-ber show a total higher than the combined total for 1970 and 1971. Permit Per-mit sales to date are listed at $1,267,994, according ac-cording to Building Inspector In-spector Cecil Shaffer. Total for 1971 was $335,175 and for 1970 the total was S863.118, most of which came dur-in dur-in December with the construction of the new Moab Area Vocational Center. The volume in permits per-mits has been light during dur-ing December, according accord-ing to Mr. Shaffer, with only 7 permits issued so far for a total valuation val-uation of $25,000. In November, however, total valuation for the m .nth was $285,700. This included a multiplex multi-plex to be constructed at Castle Valley Institute, Instit-ute, $44,000; two new-businesses new-businesses in Elgin, $190,000; a new residence, resid-ence, $25,000; 5 business bus-iness repairs, $17,000 and 8 residential repairs, re-pairs, S10.000. The new businesses were a motel and camper court owned by Vail Hatt and Lee Howland respectively. December 1971 valuations valua-tions were only $2,900. October was also a good month in 1972 with $56,000 in valuation coming under permit. Of this, $26,000 wasforone new residence; $12,900 was for 9 business repairs re-pairs and 8 residential repairs took up the remaining re-maining $17,100. May of 1972 was the month with theleastact-ivity, theleastact-ivity, with only $8,200 in valuation. This compares com-pares with a low in 1971 of $2,900 in December and a low in 1970 of $6,000 which occurred in January. Some business facilities facil-ities which helped boost the total for 1972 include in-clude construction of two new camper parks, other than those in December, Dec-ember, construction of the new federal office building, and a large number of new homes were alse built. |
