Show Devils Drop Close Game To Fired Up East Carbon With only two points separating sep-arating the Red Devil cag-ers cag-ers from a win, they dropped drop-ped their second straight Region 6 loss to the East Carbon Vikings in a 49-51 tilt here last Friday. Not more than five points ever separated the two teams, but the Moab team could not generate enough offensive threat to overtake the Vikes. East Carbon, led by guards, Ray Ferguson and Paul Martinez, capitalized capital-ized on the breaks in the game to stay ahead. Rick Maynard was well below his usual scoring average av-erage with only 12 Red Devil De-vil tallies. He was followed by Chuck Zimmerman with 11 points and Sam Scharf with 10. High scoring San Juan will be the next Red Devil foe as the two teams meet on Jan. 23rd. Coach Ward Curtis stated that he expects ex-pects another close game this week, but is looking forward for-ward to a win. JV GAME Red Devil JVs took command com-mand of last Friday's tilt over East Carbon to win going away, 57 to 31. Led by Kim Neal and Bruce Davidson, the entire Devil team helped in the scoring column. East Carbon, Car-bon, behind by only three points at the half, was unable un-able to muster an offense in the final two periods and were crushed by 26 points. |
