Show Moab Tracksters Competed in State Meet Despite two hours of heavy downpour, Merill Noyes claimed claim-ed first in the long jump with a leap of 22-5 in the Class 2-A and 1-A high school track meet held in Cedar City Saturday. Nwc jtimp -with a foot injury which didn't seem to hamper his performance. Kim (Bo) Johnson placed third in the 880 run with a time of 2:05; Bryan McKinnon placed fourth in the high jump; Kim Loveridge placed sixth in the 440 yard dash; and all Moab relay teams placed fourth. According to Coach Wayne Larsen, lightning was too threatening in the immediate vicinity at the time of the mile run and therefore he didn't allow John Shannon to run in that race. Shannon, a freshman, fresh-man, placed in the one-mile Field and Tennis Meet held May 10 at Moab with a time of 5:04.1. Moab tied Morgan for fifth place in the 2-A division with a total of 35 points, slightly over Morgan's 34 points. Cedar City ran away with the Class 2-A title with a total of IO'j points. Monticello had a score of 38 points in the 1-A division, which was won by North Sevier. |
