Show ; ! ! Peach and Pear Harvest ( On at Caoitol Reef a Some of the small crop of peaches and most of the fairly good crop of pears are nearly ripe at Capitol Reef National Park. Due to the smaller amount of peaches and their extended ripening period, they will be picked on two different days. Dates for peach picking this year will be Thursday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Sept. 14. Pear picking will start Sept. 9 and continue until finished. The orchards will be open on a "pick your own" basis fr0m 1() l a.m. to 7 p.m. on picking oays I Pickers are requested to please bring their own ladders and containers. Climbing i the trees is not allowed for safety reasons and to minimize i tree damage. ( The price for both peaches and pears will be $4 a bushel Please check at the visitor center or with a park ranger as to which orchards will be open for harvest. |
