Show Remodeling Older Home Like Taking Trip in Time Mr. and Mrs. David Engleman are taking a trip back in time as they remodel the old Cheney house. In the kitchen walls last week they found a railroad time table from the old San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake RR dated June, 1909 and two 1907 calendars put out by the Pabst Extract Co. of Milwaukee, Wise. The reverse side of the calendars calen-dars spell out the benefits bene-fits of this "tonic for all ages" made of the choicest choi-cest hops and pure rich barley malt. "A liquid food that restores wasted tissues, invigorates the blood, refreshes the brain and aids digestion." Under four layers of floor covering they discovered dis-covered several old newspapers in excellent condition. Copies of the Salt Lake Tribune were dated 1912 and 1934, and Dave is at a loss to figure fi-gure why two newspapers dated 22 years apart were found under the same layer lay-er of floor covering. Makes him wonder about archeological digs. Under date line of April 26, 1934, Green River, we find the "newly of-ganized of-ganized Civic Club had a luncheon and smoker to discuss a feeder rn j f? Hanksville and s ? "Heil Hitler" was ringing throughout Germany Ger-many and German Catholics Catho-lics were being warned not to fight the Nazi government. Within 30 days Fleischmans Yeast could "cure your pimples, pim-ples, your indigestion" and in case you have it, also, "constipation." Carbon High at Price had selected Miss Vivian Peacock as Salutatorian for the 1934 graduating class. In 1912 you could hear Puccini's "The Girl of the Golden West" at the Colonial Theater in SLC; J.P. Morgan was robbed of $7,000 in jewelry, and at the Charlton Shop in Salt Lake you could buy a winter suit for $7.50. r mm |
