Show range of opportunity Back-to-school kids in Moab range in age from six to senior citizen, and study the prescribed curriculum, plus subjects ranging from Anasazi Indians to auto mechanics. Learning opportunities could hardly be wider. Elementary and secondary schools offer a program which" exceeds state requirements in scope. And for the long-time neglected problem learners, the special education programs in operation here make it possible for exceptional students to get the education to which they are entitled. Adult education gives those who did not finish high school on schedule a chance to get that important im-portant sheepskin. Community education offers classes where adults may pursue a new interest, and add a new facet to their lives. Continuing education allows a resident to work for his college diploma, and remain here in Moab at another job while doing so. Classes are offered by the Southeastern Utah Center for Continuing Education, a branch of Utah State University. Vocational Education, at Moab's new Vocational Vocation-al Center, offers the opportunity for students to learn a whole new skill, to give their lives a whole new direction. As our kids get back into the fall swing of school, and adult, community, continuing and vocational education classes begin to get underway, we would all do well to take a look at the class offerings and see, what is there for us. For what reason? Self improvement, new interests, in-terests, a new career, a little spice. |
