Show Gmd School Enrollment Close $ Lsti Ve&r's Level Bill B. Meador, Superintendent Super-intendent of Schools, announced an-nounced Wednesday that enrollment in the District Dis-trict is now at 1722. Ending End-ing enrollment last year was 1760 and it is anticipated anti-cipated that after the Labor Day weekend, the totals at the four schools in this district will climb to about 1740. The school budget was figured on anticipated attendance of 1730 students. The largest number of students, 491 to date, will be attending Southeast Elementary School. That school ended last year with a total of 526. Helen M. Knight Elementary has 404 students enrolled, enroll-ed, only a slight drop from the 408 with which they ended the year. Junior High enrollment enroll-ment as of Tuesday night stood at 439 compared with the ending total at that school of 457. The high school showed an increase in enrollment with 388 students. They ended with 369 last year. Supt. Meador stated that at Southeast and the Junior High, where the most drastic decreases occurred this year, staff adjustments were made at the end of the year in anticipation of the de- cline in enrollment. i At this time only one teaching position remains re-mains to be filled; that of electronics instructor at the Vocational Center. This position became vacant va-cant with the resignation last summer of Bob Robertson, Ro-bertson, who took another anoth-er position. Supt. Meador indicated that at this time students registered for electronics are being held and a decision on a replacement teacher will be made by this weekend. In general, Supt. Meador Mea-dor said, school startup this year has gone smoothly and very few problems have been encountered. |
